Hello from the Caviste:
We hope you are enjoying the welcome spring rain. We made sure to stock up on returning favorites (bag in a box wines are back!) along with a sea of rosés that will fit any occasion. Tell us your mood and we will have a rosé just for that.
We have a great line-up for May: Tuesday Tasting with value Bordeaux & Tuscan wines on May 7, Kermit Lynch Wine Dinner on Wednesday, May 8, (SEATS ARE AVAILABLE!) and winemaker/importer visits.
Scroll below for details.
And at last, all of our pastas are back in stock, and we got serious with our bag-in-a-box ("BiBs" :-)) offerings - all ready to go for that next party or beach trip.
We look forward to seeing you in the shop soon.
Cheers!

Montenidoli | Tuscany IT | Vernaccia di San Gimignano Expect a symphony of flavors, with hints of ripe orchard fruits and subtle mineral tones, leading to a refreshing and elegantly structured finish.
Montenidoli | Tuscany IT | Rosato 100% Canaiuolo Pale pink. The bouquet opens with raspberries and violets, turning into to orange blossoms and citrus. On the palate, full, very dry, with well crispy acidity. The finish is long, salted, mineral.
Chateau Vilatte | Bordeaux FR | Rosé 25% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot A wine that is both floral and fresh, with lovely richness and fullness on the palate. A long and slightly winey finish. Very complete wine.
Chateau Vilatte | Bordeaux FR | Bordeaux Rouge 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon Beautiful vintage in Bordeaux. Wine with lots of bite, lots of fruit and lovely fresh tannins. Still a little young but already pleasant. A wine full of promise.

Friday May 10 4:30-6:30pm
With Lorenzo Scavino from Azelia, Piedmont, Italy $13 tasting fee* (*waived with any featured bottles purchased)
Langhe Nebbiolo Bereft of oak influence, this wine has a purity that exposes soil influence. It presents a textbook version of Langhe Nebbiolo’s aromatic profile. Spicy cherry, flowers, and chalk. It’s an appealing mix. Serve with Robiola, toasted nuts, and fresh fruit. Ripe persimmons, if you can find them. — Jay Murrie of PWI
Barolo DOCG 2019 This wine is harvested from seven parcels spread across Lorenzo and Luigi Scavino’s 16-hectare farm. Thirty percent of the fruit comes from their home village of Castiglione Falletto. The remainder is grown in neighboring Serralunga. Bright cherry. Clarity. After a series of drought vintages, it’s a relief to taste Barolo from a year where there was rain (in spring) and the harvest could be carried in the historically-common weeks of late October. A normal vintage. Not lacking challenges, but yielding mid-weight Barolo with immediate appeal. Braise some beef, and dive in headfirst. — JM
Barolo Bricco Fiasco 2017 Created in 1978, Bricco Fiasco was one of the first wines in the entire Barolo area to be identified as a cru/single vineyard bottling. The vines in Bricco Fiasco are now 85 years old. White calcareous soils give this wine exceptional elegance and freshness. To me, it’s an intoxicating cherry liqueur aroma that carries Bricco Fiasco to the top echelon of quality. It’s no small feat in Italy’s most illustrious wine growing region. — JM
Barolo Margheria 2019 A very rare beauty. Margheria is an exceptional site, notable for possessing dry, white, compact clay/limestone soils, and sixty-year-old vines. The wine conveys intense minerality. Subtler than its companions in the Azelia portfolio, and prettier. Gentle on the palate. The texture is lighter than most. Ethereal. Delicate dried rose aromas. It’s my favorite of their five crus. — JM

Tuesday May 14 4:30-6:30pm With Steven Graf $5 tasting fee* (*waived with any featured bottles purchased) Steven Graf Imports focus on small, family run projects, with a passion for production and pursuit of the ‘new’ without omission of tradition. He is well known for his representation and long time partnership with Fifi Wines, a portfolio focused on natural wines from the US.
“So much of what we are about in "natural" wine is breaking from form and tradition to tell new stories from new spots on the globe; [...] this is never more powerful than with a new variation of an old theme.”
