Tuesday Tasting - Classics | Sancerre Rosé
Back-To-School Basics Wine Class

Hello from the Caviste

Welcome to a week of respite from the heat!

We are back to our tastings schedule. First up, is tomorrow, Tuesday, August 5, 5-7 drop in, doing a Classics Tasting with Alex from Kellogg Selections. These producers are some of the best in their region, and while the varietals may be familiar, in their hands, they end up just brilliant. Come taste these and find out why we continue to keep them on our shelves year in and year out.

Our Fried Chicken and Champagne pop-up is sold-out, but a waitlist is available.

And guess what? Russ is now offering wine classes. The first one coming up is Back-to-School Basics Wine Class, part I, Wednesday, August 13, 6pm. It will be a small class format, and part one will focus on classic white wines. Many of you have asked how did we ever know so much about wine? While it's tasting alot of wine, it's also engaging our minds with a dedicated time. If you ever wanted a focused tasting, this is the way to do it. Seats will fill fast, so sign up with us soon.

Cheers

Featured Wine
Sancerre Rosé

Pascal & Nicolas Reverdy Sancerre Rosé
It is summer and while the temperatures have cooled a little this week, it is still a great time for brighter and more refreshing wines.  We find rosés especially well-suited to this time of the year as we transition to the cooler temperatures of Fall.

One of our favorites hails from the same region as last week's white wine - Sancerre.  While most people know Sancerre for its white wines which is 100% sauvignon blanc, the region makes some delicious rosé and less often seen red wines as well, all 100% pinot noir.

Pascal Reverdy has been in the store since we opened and has been consistent for almost 15 years now.  The wines can accurately be described as "suave, elegant and hauntingly subtle."  There are crisp red fruit notes on the palate interlaced with orange zest and a refreshing mineral mountain strawberry and dried raspberry note.

A wonderful glass whether watching the sun set or paired with your best vine ripened tomatoes on a BLT, fish tacos, or fruit salsa. $29

Back-to-School Basics
Part I - White Wines

Wine Class

Wednesday, August 13, 6pm
$50 per person

Wine is often seen as a more intimidating subject than it should be.  In the end it is still just a beverage to be consumed!  But yet, it is also one of the most intriguing and captivating of beverages.

If you would like to dive deeper and expand your exploration of wine, we are starting up our wine classes again.  To start, we are beginning with some "Back to Basics" classes just in time for back to school.  The first two will be structure broadly around white and red wine.

The white wine class will explore the most popular wines grapes on the market today and how they relate to one another as well as how and where they are made most frequently.  It is a great chance to compare and better understand the differences between Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc, or Chardonnay and Albarino.  We will taste through 7 or 8 wines and discuss their flavor profiles and characteristics.

(The next class will take a similar approach to red wines and then we are planning a class focused on bubbly wines after that.  Then we will dive deep into specific regions and/or grapes.)

Each class will last about 1 1/2 hours, and expect to taste through about 6 or more wines. Some bread and a little cheese will be served to help balance the palate.

Email us if you would like to sign up!
