Hello from the Caviste:
We hope you are staying cool these days. We had a great two-week break and have come back refreshed and excited to see you all back in the store. We have many new arrivals on the shelves, and super tasty wines by the glass. Keep scrolling for pictures!
Further, we are lining up some Tuesday Tastings, the first one is this coming Tuesday, July 30, 4:30-6:30, with Anna from Piedmont Wine Imports. She will be pouring a new French producer to their portfolio, and two returning Italian favorites.
In the meantime, we have been devouring books in the shade. I (Alice) am doing catch-up reading with Jancis Robinson's memoir on her wine journey, Tasting Pleasure: Confessions of a Wine Lover. While she is well-known as a wine critic, and even advised Queen Elizabeth II on her wine cellar, she is first and foremost a wine lover. A great read, as she tells stories of wines like they are people -- there are history, stories, growth and personalities in each bottle. Russ is finishing Rick Bass's The Traveling Feast, a travel journal of sorts where Rick travels and cooks for many of his great writing mentors, including Peter Matthiessen, David Sedaris and Joyce Carol Oates.
We hope to see you soon!
