Hello from the Caviste:
It has been a fun-filled week for us and we are capping it off with an eclectic music night with DJ Fleet, spinning on vinyl. Also known as our good friend Ben Sayers, he learned vinyl spinning from re-watching VHS channel of the 90's DJ battles (where are you gen-x'ers?). It's happening TONIGHT, 6-9pm, with bar snacks from 5:30-8pm, and fun cool wines by the glass.
Tuesday tasting is with Sam from Kellogg, who will pour under-the-radar German and Austrian varietals, perfect for this season.
And to continue the Austrian theme, this weather is also calling for a groovy liter gruner and a liter zweigelt, both immensely drinkable and great for those weekend getaways.

Drop in, 6-9pm, for some tunes on vinyl, bar snacks (arancini, pasta, small plates) and some cool wines. We're pouring a groovy gruner, a skin-contact garganega, a Sicilian carricante, and a funky carbonic macerated syrah/grenache blend.

Wiemer | Field White | New York | Gruner Vetliner, Riesling, Chard Young-vine Grüner Veltliner sets the foundation for this field blend, along with riesling and chardonnay. It is the under-the-radar pinot grigio / sauvignon blanc stand-in with a bit of texture, length, and a lithe structure, a perfect everyday white.
Gojer | Vernatsch | Italy | 100% Vernatsch (Schiava, Trollinger) Mouthwatering and savory, with notes of pomegranate and herbs. An excellent complement to most pork dishes and great with salumi.
Gojer | St Magdalener | Italy | 95% Vernatsch, 5% Lagrein Shows aromas of red fruits, tea-tannins, distinct herbal notes and long finish. Delicious with roasted meats and root vegetables, grilled salmon, and rich pasta dishes.

Located just east of Vienna in Kremstal, Erich Berger's vineyards grow amongst steep loess terraces that store heat during the day, providing fruitiness and juiciness to the vines. The focus is always terroir and true expressions of the varietals - namely, grüner veltliner. Erich grows a small percentage of zweigelt that is a gem of a red. These are the perfect travel or party bottles, one liter fun sizes.

This bottle is the perfect size for parties or a lazy Sunday afternoon porch time. The grapes are fermented entirely in stainless steel. The wine has an extra pristine clarity and complexity, crisp, clean, green fruits with a hint of pear. Great stand-in for the pinot grigio or sauvignon blanc drinker.

Zweigelt 1 Litre

The Berger liter of Zweigelt is an unbelievable value red wine. Made in the same style as the Grüner Liter, but aged for an additional year. Juicy and bright, Berger’s Zweigelt is loaded with crunchy red fruit, tart cherry, and cranberry. Excellent as is or served a touch cooler than cellar temperature. For the pinot or light red drinker, or for that 70+ degree climes.
