La Fattoria Corzano e Paterno, founded by the Swiss architect Wendel Gelpke, is now owned and operated by his heirs, the Gelpke and Goldschmidt families. The farm extends over two hundred hectares (five hundred acres) of verdant and stony hills enabling the production of our extensive range of wines, sheep cheeses and high quality olive oil. In 2005 Gelpke’s daughter, Arianna, following her studies in enology and viticulture and experience in other cellars, came back full time to the farm.
Arianna will be on-site with us on Saturday, April 6, to pour her wines and meet you. We can't wait!
She'll be pouring:
“Il Corzanello” Bianco Toscano Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Trebbiano, Petit Manseng, Verdicchio, Semillon By planting a diverse collection of varieties and working in field and cellar to capture fresh aromatics and acidity, Corzano e Paterno have made this wine a consistently delicious, compelling, easy-to-love core part of our portfolio. -Jay Murrie of PWI
“Il Corzanello” Rosato Toscano Sangiovese Il Corzanello Rosato is mineral and fine, precise. Exactly what’s needed for torrid heat in July and August. The wine is 100% Sangiovese, whole bunch pressed. -JM of PWI
“Il Corzanello” Rosso Toscano Sangiovese, Cabernet and Merlot Cool fruit, violet, fresh plum. Low in tannin, but nice nervy energy from the mineral/acid component of the wine. A fresh, fruity, immediate wine. -JM of PWI
“Terre Di Corzano” Chianti Sangiovese and Canaiolo Barrel fermented and aged with no new oak, the wine is wonderfully aromatic with a deep fruity core of rich cherry and dark red berries, possessing significant structure graced by a touch of acidity in its lengthy finish.
“I Tre Borri” Sangiovese Rosso Toscano Sangiovese I Tre Borri takes the path of ripe summer blackberries, just-macerated strawberry, star anise and clove. There’s phenolic ripeness and clarity to the palate-feel. -JM of PWI
