New Hours Tues - Sat 12-8 | Master Somm Wines | Georgian Wine Dinner Sept 18

Hello from the Caviste:

We hope you are enjoying as much outdoors falls-y weather as possible. The best news we have for you is that we love seeing you all so much we have extended our hours:
*NEW HOURS* Tuesday - Saturday 12-8

We have a bunch of events lined up for you. First up is our Tuesday Tasting with wines from Australia and Oregon, selected or produced by Master Sommeliers. Low intervention, delicious, reasonably priced. That will be Tuesday, Sept 10, 5 to 7pm, drop in.

Next is our Georgian Wine Dinner with Noel Brockett from Georgian Wine House, Wednesday, September 18, 6pm, RSVP only. Chef Bobby and his kitchen crew have an intriguing, delicious menu to pair with wines that are fantastic, with an 8,000-year-old winemaking tradition.

Speaking of wines and origins, you may occasionally hear us geek out on soil when we're raving about a bottle. It's debatable whether we can actually taste "limestone" in a glass of Champagne, but next time you are having a glass of Champagne, or a Syrah from the Northern Rhone, or a Frappato from Sicily, Alice Feiring's thoroughly enjoyable, readable, The Dirty Guide to Wine, is a fun companion. She takes you on a 10,000 feet view, a Cliff's Notes version, the shortcut guide, to why soil is such a big deal. Alice is a big deal in the natural wine world, and had at one point, declared war on Robert Parker. She is irreverent, sarcastic, candid, and passionate. Wine is for all of us to enjoy.

Tues Sep 10, 5 - 7 pm drop in

We are excited to present wines from the new world (shocking!). However, if you've been through our store, you know that there are plenty of small producers who walk the talk in producing terroir-driven, low-intervention, purely delicious wines.

Two Master Sommeliers, Jane Lopes and Jon Ross, started a small-producer Australian Wine Import Company, Legend, during the pandemic with the mission of bringing the new generation of Australian producers to this side of the pond. We are pouring two wines from their portfolio.

Another Master Sommelier Bree Stock, born in Australia, discovered the Willamette Valley as an under-the-radar, untapped wine region for diverse grapes. Two wines from her winery, Limited Addition, will be featured.

Montevecchio Bianco | Victoria/New South Wales
Ribolla Gialla, Vermentino, Pecorino, Moscato Giallo, Malvasia, Falanghina
effort in environmental sustainability by matching Italian varietals to Australian climate; crisp, refreshing blend with a kiss of the Australian sun

Montevecchio Rosso | Victoria/New South Wales
Piedrosso, Pavana, Lagrein, Sagrantino, Lambrusco, Sangiovese, Teroldego, Schioppettino, Aglianico
future of wine is in field blends; co-ferment blend; plush and balanced, savory with fennel and sage, plus black fruited juiciness

Limited Addition | Orange Crush | Willamette Valley, Oregon
Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Muscat, Riesling
co-ferment blend; extremely crush-able with tropical fruit, medium-bodied textured, a 3pm patio drinker

Limited Addition | Red Blend | Willamette Valley, Oregon
Trousseau, Pinot Noir, Gamay
flagship red; trilogy blend that best expresses the cool, maritime climes of the willamette valley; earth, dark cherry, juicy, a tinge of smoke, a tinge of berry
