Kermit Lynch Wines returning, Wine classes and events

Hello from the Caviste;

When customers ask how to find good wines, we often suggest looking at the back label to see who the importer is? This is in addition to knowing your local wine shop presenting the wine :-).  As many of you all know, a key importer on our shelves, certainly for French wines, is Kermit Lynch.  We are thrilled to have some of our favorite wines returning, more info below.

If you would like to explore the Kermit Lynch portfolio further, we have two great wine classes lined up with Nick Demos, brand manager of the Kermit Lynch portfolio, details below.

WINE CLASSES

The first one is a "Tour de France" of benchmark reds from the Kermit Lynch Portolio. That will be March 21, Tuesday evening, at 6pm. RSVP only. $45

The second one is April 4, Tuesday evening, at 6pm, and will be a Terroir study through a Beaujolais Lens, also with Nick Demos and the Kermit Lynch Portfolio. Details below.
In addition, we have bar snacks (including fresh oysters) every evening starting at 5:30pm. On the weekend, you can look for one of Chef Bobby's hot plate specials (Friday/Saturday). With a changing wine list and food menu, this may be one of the best ways to explore the store's offerings, in their natural setting - paired with delicious food! We will try to keep you posted on the specials as soon as we find out but the best way to learn what Chef is cooking is to follow our instagram - https://www.instagram.com/thecavistews/

Fontsainte Gris de Gris

Year in and year out, this is one of our top selling rosés in the store, this year it is also the first 2022 rosé to arrive on the shelves.  From an old estate in an older land, the first vineyards at Domaine de Fontsainte were planted by the Romans. The original domaine was built around a thermal spring, which was later named for the local, 12th-century patron saint, Saint Siméon; hence Fontsainte—the Saint’s fount. Produced mainly from direct press Grenache Gris, this wine opens with attractive notes of  raspberry, cherry and freshly picked strawberries, then leads to more exotic notes of sliced kiwi, pineapple and hints of mango perhaps.  This is a wonderful wine worth having on hand throughout your summer, buy more than one.  $22/bottle

Janvier - Cuvée du Rosier

As temperatures warm, our palate turns to slightly lighter bodied reds like this beauty from the Loire Valley.  Many know the Chenin Blanc based wines of this producer, a few that know this delicious red certainly appreciate it. If you don't, you owe it to yourself to try this delicious red.  It is from a grape rarely seen outside of the Loire Valley - Pineau d'Aunis.  I love the vibrancy and 'crackling' red fruit this grape offers all crushed cranberries, hints of raspberry blossom and mountain cherries with hints of white pepper notes on the finish.  It is wonderful with a goat cheese tart and salad (raspberry vinaigrette please) or a roast chicken and light bodied red enough to pair with fish. $26/bottle

Ch. Aney - Haut Medoc 2015

Classic Bordeaux, Aged to Boot

This is a wonderful step back in time and a step into deliciousness.  First, it is fabulous to be able to buy older vintage wines, age brings flavors you cannot attain any other way.  But also, the style of the wine inherently is one that harks back to the classic styling of Bordeaux in the 1960's and 1970's when the wines were certainly delicious but not under the heavy handed artifice of too much new oak and high alcohol.

The blend of the wine matches the blend of vines planted in the vineyard, 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot.  And the wine is incredibly elegant and refined. This is probably one of our best value reds we have in the store. $28/bottle

Wine Clubs

A great way to learn and experience a broader range of wines is through one of our wines clubs.  For a few years now, we have had two, Benchmark reds and Champagne.  Now, we are excited to announce the addition of our newest club focused on our value wine selections.

**NEW** 3-pack value club: Once a month, you'l receive 3 bottles per month, all incredibly valued (usually between $15-$25 retail), some that are under-the-radar, or just drinking really well. They will be whites, reds, orange, and/or rosés that will follow the changing seasons. Monthly total price will be in the $50 range, which includes the 10% off retail pricing.

If you're interested in any of these clubs, give us a call or send us an email.

We look forward to helping you find some delicious wines for your next meal or event. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
