Here's what we'll be pouring:
Dila-O ~ 50% Rkatsiteli 50% Mtsvane Dila-O ~ Saperavi Dakishvili ~ Rkatsiteli Dakishvili ~ Saperavi
A fantastic introduction to wines from the Republic of Georgia. Enjoy tasting three indigenous varietals: Rkatsiteli, Mtsvane, and Saperavi. All four wines are fermented in Quevri, the traditional large clay vessels buried underground. One of the interesting aspects is "skin contact" wine making is a standardize approach in Georgia, not a new fad. Both of the whites have skin contact, but are a lighter style than is typical for Georgian "amber" (orange) wines. There will also be two expressions of Saperavi, the Dila-O young and fresh and Dakishvili a bit richer and more tannic.
This promises to be both a fun and unique wine tasting next week, join us to ecplore the wines, then pair them with some delicious bar bites to experience their full depth and nuance.
