Hello from the Caviste!

We hope you are enjoying the moments of warmth and blooms! We can't believe the end of February is here, spring is near, and we have some exciting wines returning and tasty events on the horizon.

We are traveling the first part of the week and don't have a tasting this week, but keep an eye out for our upcoming tastings. We do have some delicious wines arriving in the store for spring sipping with a couple highlighted below.

We hope to see you soon at the store.
Cheers

Wines we stock up on
So, weather has always thrown curves at wine producers and the wine market. These days, we also have tariffs worming their way into our prices.  In the midst of all this, there are still some exciting wines that we stock up on from time to time and consider values.  They are usually striking in their nature and present a great value between quality and price, not necessarily 'cheap' so much as value in offering more than they cost.
Langhe Nebbiolo 2024, Stefano Occhetti
A new favorite summer nebbiolo?  For us, it is this and the JC Clare that we find ourselves opening again and again.  This vintage for Occhetti is everything you want (or at least I do) in a nebbiolo.  From Roero the grapes grow on sandy soil which brings forward the red fruits and rose notes.  Their is so much vibrancy on the nose it sparks the depths of the brains palate notes, then there is a broad but slightly racy profile on the tongue with the wine finishing in such a clean but flavorful way it asks you to take another sip.  $34/bottle
Sancerre, Domaine des Chasseignes
Sancerre seems to be known by many in America and almost any who visits a bistro in Paris.  A region in the Loire Valley (home of storybook chateaux) it is a source for delicious Sauvignon Blanc wines that balance ripe fruit and refreshing minerality.  Unfortunately, like many deservedly popular items, good Sancerre seems to come and go quickly.  So, we stock up a little when we can.  Many of you know the Chasseignes Sancerre and it is indeed a stock-er up-er.  More so, the wines are delicious when young but if you can make it through the summer or longer without drinking them all they put on a some nice weight with time in the bottle.  $30/bottle
