Featured Wines - Lapierre "Le Beaujolais" & Philippe Gilbert Menetou-Salon Rosé || New Details for French Wine Dinner

Caviste customers, hello!

We can't believe it is nearing the end of summer. But, never fear, we have wine for you in this transitioning time. The two featured below are the "get-ready-for-fall" type. The first wine, a delicious rosé, is Sancerre-adjacent and offers lengthy flavors from beginning to end to match the end of your busier days. The second, an allocated wine from a favorite producer, gears you up for the cooling evenings (fingers crossed!) with a classic and allocated Beaujolais.  This style of Beaujolais is like a casual evening red burgundy.

Philippe Gilbert
Menetou-Salon rosé

Philippe, a former playwright-turned-winemaker, is the 9th generation in his family to work this property that dates back to Louis XV. It is the first biodynamic estate in the under appreciated region of Menetou-Salon (a neighbor to Sancerre). He puts his creative skills to work practicing biodynamic farming on Kimmeridgian soils (a la Sancerre and Chablis). To make the wine, he uses a direct press with whole clusters - a rare technique amongst his peers. This beauty is royal and elegant showing complex layers of soft red berry fruits with a crisp lingering finish. Instead of afternoon tea, have a bottle of sophistication.

Lapierre
Le Beaujolais

We are excited that we were able to secure a limited allocation of this lip-smacking and delicious Beaujolais. This is the bottling between the Raisins Gaullois and Lapierre's Morgon.  Bottled in the spring, this bottle has the vibrant flavors and velvety mouthfeel of the Morgon bottling.  As one person noted, these wines are meant to be "devoured."  I think that partly captures the delicious and easy drinking nature of these wines.  We can attest to devouring our fair share. Always delicious and in ever increasing demand, we got a few cases allocated to us and I look forward to trying one if any are left.
$34/btl
