Tuesday, August 19, 5-7pm drop inwith Robert from Advintage$5 tasting fee, waived with featured bottle purchaseIsland wines are our secret-not-so-secret go to wines for pairing with all summer fare, everything from salads, seafood, to grilled meats. Join us tomorrow for a great lineup. We are featuring two producers who represent their islands.
Cardedu - Sardinia The property is on the southeast coast, where soils are crumbling granite and schist in ragged-dry cliffs. Cardedu balances on that edge of being traditional but also thoughtful, especially considering today’s warmer climate. In the last few vintages – extremely hot and dry – Cardedu has made lower alcohol wines by picking earlier and careful vineyard management.
Nùo (Vermentino) - savory, light, sea salt, sage, basil, cedar, chalky stone fruits; pairs well with grilled shrimp, spaghetti alla bottarga, any salty italian hard cheese, $21
Praja (Monica) - local native grape, a zingy light-bodied red wine, spicy underbrush, touch of fruit; great with black olives, tinned fish, a red you can chill and serve with your grilled skewers $23
Domaine Vetriccie - Corsica Located in the town of Aghione, on the Costa Serena, the estate spreads over 120 hectares in the heart of the appellation AOP Vin de Corse. The soils are located between sea and mountain.
Île de Beauté Rosé - Niellucciu 70%, Sciaccarellu 15% Grenache 15% native varietals of the island, direct press, a refreshing watermelon, cranberry, minerally pomegranate flavors, $15
Île de Beauté Red - 60% Niellucciu, 30% , Sciaccarellu, 10% Syrah concrete tanks in 21 days, lots of red fruit, rich, round and smooth, silky tannins, $16
